WINTER IS HERE. And with that, we’ve entered peak streaming season. Long gone are the afternoons spent by the beach and the golden hours spent at fancy dinners. Now, once work is done, it’s straight home and onto the couch to watch whatever has caught your interest lately. That might sound depressing, but you needn’t see it that way. Try reframing it: there’s a lot to like about a quiet night at home, especially when the quality of what you’re watching has never been higher. We are living in the golden age of streaming, after all.
June will see new seasons of hit series like House of the Dragon, The Bear and Sugar, plus new series we anticipate to be smash hits like Cape Fear and Every Year After. On the film front, Avatar: Fire & Ash, Gladiator II and 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple are all making their streaming debuts.
In any case, it’s a good time to have a streaming subscription. The new content is arriving in such quantities that choosing what to watch becomes its own challenge. That’s where we come in. To help you find what’s worth streaming in June, we’ve rounded up the best new pieces of content.

June Netflix Highlight – Gladiator II
Gladiator II was one of the most hyped movies of 2024, and it’s finally making its streaming debut. The long-awaited sequel to the Oscar-winning original stars Paul Mescal as Lucius, the son of Russell Crowe’s Maximus Decimus Meridius, who was sent from Rome as a child to the far-flung region of Numidia for his own protection. Now, he’s brought back to the heart of the empire and, like his father, must fight in the colosseum while plotting to overthrow Rome’s tyrannical emperors. Denzel Washington gives a spirited performance as the scheming Macrinus.
The FIFA World Cup also begins in June, and if you need something to induce football fever, you’ll find it on Netflix. Check out Mexico 86, a comedy film about Mexico’s audacious bid to host the 1986 World Cup; Norway: The Dark Horse, a docu-series about how Norway fought its way to its first World Cup appearance in almost 30 years; or USA 94: Brazil’s return to Glory, a documentary about Brazil’s legendary (and arguably the best ever) team from the ’90s.
Elsewhere, Office Romance should provide your rom-com fix. It stars Ted Lasso‘s Brett Goldstein as the unlikely lead opposite Jennifer Lopez. The title says it all, really: JLo is a CEO with a strict policy against fraternisation with employees, but her attractive (beauty is in the eye of the beholder, we suppose) new hire might make her change her mind.

June Disney+ Highlight – The Bear, season 5
The fifth and final season of The Bear will pick up the morning after Carmy (Jeremy Allen White) has quit the food industry. He’s left the titular restaurant to Sydney (Ayo Edebiri), Richie (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) and Natalie (Abby Elliott), who can’t quite believe what’s happened, but must push on to earn that elusive Michelin star.
On the movie front, the third highest grossing film of 2025 (and highest grossing film that wasn’t made for kids) is making its streaming debut. Avatar: Fire & Ash finds the Sully family grieving the loss of their eldest son before finding themselves in the crosshairs of a Na’vi death cult known as the Ash People. Reviews were mixed, but it can’t be denied that Fire & Ash is technically brilliant, and a treat to look at.

June Amazon Prime Video Highlight – 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple
The sequel to 2025’s 28 Years Later, The Bone Temple was shot back-to-back with its predecessor and is set to make its streaming debut on Prime Video. We’ll rejoin survivor Spike, who has become a reluctant member of a deranged, violent cult. Meanwhile, Dr. Kelson has managed to make a connection with an infected Alpha, Samson.
Given the extremely high success rate of recent book-to-TV adaptations, it’s also worth mentioning Every Year After, which premieres on June 10. It’s adapted from Carley Fortune’s novel ‘Every Summer After’ and is set across six idyllic summers and one present-day week as a pair of lifelong friends engage in a classic ‘will they, won’t they’ duel.

What’s new on Apple TV, June 2026
June Apple TV Highlight – Cape Fear
In 1957, a novel called The Executioners by John D. MacDonald was released. It was a moderate success commercially, but it’s true renown has come from its adaptations. It was first adapted into a film in 1962, with Cape Fear. Then Martin Scorsese remade it 1991, with Robert De Niro and Nick Nolte in the leading roles. Now, it’s being adapted for a third time, but as a series.
The new ten episode series sees Javier Bardem take on the role of the villainous Max Cady, a convicted murderer out for vengeance against the attorneys that helped put him behind bars. Amy Adams and Patrick Wilson are our new Anna and Tom Bowden, the targets of Cady’s ire.
Colin Farrell is also returning for second season of Sugar. In his latest case, he’s tracking the troubled older brother of an up-and-coming local boxer as his search for his missing sister continues.
