Oscar Nominees Will Receive A Gift Bag Worth More Than $150,000

Gift bags at the 2020 Oscars will include gold-plated cannabis vape pens from Hollowtips, which use cartridges containing refined THC water clear distillate (the psychoactive component in the cannabis plant), and a brain sensor headbands from Muse which can be used to track mental activity during meditation which retail at $350. The headband reportedly detects when the user’s thoughts drift off, at which point it begins playing stormy noises. When they are focused, it plays soothing sounds. So probably best not to use the vape pen first.

Other freebies in the swag bags will include a 12-day cruise worth more than $70,000, free Botox, a voucher for bullet-proof doors, a genetic testing kit which matches your DNA to medications, and a Peezy Midstream urine collection system. There are also charitable items, such as The Beauty Book for Brain Cancer, a coffee table where each sale goes to fund cancer research and treatment, and aromatherapy sleep sets from Essence One which donates a portion of profits to the mental health organisation Bring Change to Mind.

The bags are compiled each year by marketing firm Distinctive Assets and given to nominees in the acting and directing categories, although they have no official connection to the awards.
