If you ask a cheater why they’re unfaithful, they’ll probably give you a variety of different reasons. But if you get to the root of the problem, the real reason may be determined by their gender.
The Sun reports that females are more likely to cheat if they feel emotionally deprived in a relationship, while men tend to play the field if they’re dissatisfied with their sex lives.
Research has found that women are unfaithful when they feel like there’s an emotional void with their other half, while men often cheat when they aren’t getting enough action at home or have become attracted to another woman.
Winifred Reilly, marriage and family therapist, says: “Women tell me, ‘I was lonely, not connected, I didn’t feel close to my partner, and I was taken for granted.’
“They say they wanted to have someone who would look into their eyes and make them feel sexy again.”
