Simon Cowell is taking some extreme measures to increase his longevity. As he focuses on his health and improving the quality of his life, the 66-year-old has turned to a procedure that ‘rinses’ and ‘filters’ his blood. And he claims it’s working, with Cowell claiming his biological age is younger than his chronological one.
‘I go to this place, this wellness clinic, where they actually take your blood, they rinse it, they filter it and then they put it back into your body,’ he told The Sun. While he does not mention the specific procedure, therapeutic apheresis is the process of removing specific components from your blood, such as harmful proteins or unhealthy cells. Once removed, the rinsed blood is then filtered back into the person’s body.
Treatment is largely reserved for people with autoimmune disease, some cancers, and neurological disorders, but is becoming increasingly popular among high-profile people as a way to rid themselves of microplastics. Orlando Bloom revealed in July he had tried ‘cleaning’ his blood to remove toxins, including microplastics, from his blood.
However, there is currently no published scientific evidence that filtering blood can remove microplastics.
Cowell isn’t just relying on rinsing and filtering his blood, though. The music mogul is also focusing on his overall lifestyle habits, improving as many areas of his life as possible to – he claims – ‘age backwards’. ‘You do all these tests, and they tell you your age, so I’ve actually aged backwards by eating better, more exercise, less stress, and certain supplements. My brain is still there, I still have the energy,’ he said.
At the start of Covid, Cowell revealed he lost 60lbs (27 kg) by focusing on his diet, while he also completed 150 push-ups at the start of every day. And these lifestyle changes are part of an ongoing process to feel his best – in 2022, he removed all the filler from his face. He said he had so many injections he failed to recognise himself, while he also started to scare his son, Eric. ‘Eric was in hysterics. Enough was enough. There is no filler in my face at all now. Zero,’ Cowell explained.
