Following news of Queensland closing its borders and the NRL telling staff there’s no work, it was only a matter of time.
“There’s been increasing speculation over the last half an hour or so that the season could well be suspended. The NRL staff have been told to take annual leave until May 01. That’s 90 per cent of the staff – they’ll be operating on a skeleton staff until that time,” Danny Weidler told 9News.
“You also mentioned the QLD borders as well, that being shut, that’s a significant hurdle. We’ll find out more at 6:00pm. The clubs are going to have a briefing with Peter V’Landys and Todd Greenberg at 5:45 today. They may well be told the NRL season will be suspended.”‘
