IN ADDITION TO bagging legions of Emmy Awards across its five-season run (21, to be exact), The Bear has also succeeded in establishing its star, Jeremy Allen White, as one of the hottest commodities in Hollywood.
Since the premiere of The Bear back in 2022, White has seen his star rise significantly. He’s won three Golden Globes. And on the big screen, he’s played a professional wrestler, Bruce Springsteen and a Hutt.
At the same time, the fact that White has an enviable physique has become common knowledge. The actor has a habit of running, walking and hiking around Los Angeles shirtless. He’s fronted a campaign for Calvin Klein. And in 2023’s The Iron Claw, he spends a considerable amount of time in the standard, low coverage outfit of a pro wrestler.
How did White build such a physique? We’re glad you asked. Ahead of the final season of The Bear, here’s everything we know about how Jeremy Allen White eats and trains.

Jeremy Allen White's diet
White had to bulk up for The Iron Claw, which meant consuming more calories than what he was used to. “Yes, eating all the time,” he told Esquire. “Like, never stopping.”
His diet was clean but – he felt – excessive. “In the morning, I would have waffles, almond butter. In the middle of the day, I was eating turkey patties and avocado all the time.”
Protein and healthy fats were the priority – an effective method for building muscle. But it wasn’t the content of his diet that White had trouble with, it was the sheer quantity. “It’s really just gross,” he said. “You’re trying to consume as much as you possibly can, and, to be honest, you don’t feel great… I don’t know, trying to get that big, it’s no way to live.”
White has, presumably, dropped his calorie intake since then. His physique is noticeably slimmer (but not without toning), so we can assume he’s no longer forcing down food. Still, the template is there – high protein, healthy fats and the occasional indulgence.

Jeremy Allen White's workouts
White trained harder than ever before in preparation for The Iron Claw – but going in, he didn’t know where to start. “I didn’t know what I was doing,” he admitted to Jimmy Kimmel. “I knew I had to eat more, so I ate more. I knew I had to lift heavy things, so I lifted heavy things.”
He didn’t go into specifics about the nature of those “heavy things”, but he did mention what he avoided. “I knew that you should try to stay away from cardio.” That was a challenge because, as all those candid training pics have revealed, White enjoys cardio. “I like to run, I like to jump rope in my everyday life, that makes me feel good, these guys didn’t do a lot of that stuff. It was just lifting,” he said.
Given how little he enjoyed the process of bulking up, it should come as no surprise that White hasn’t kept to the heavy lifting, no cardio routine. Recent photos of him show a slimmer, less bulky physique. While he has maintained some muscle, it looks like he’s been partaking in his preferred forms of training: running, hiking and biking.
