THE MOVEMBER ISSUE

A practical guide to men’s health

WELCOME TO MEN’S HEALTH’S special Movember digital edition. In this issue, we’re seeking to raise awareness and promote positive habits around men’s mental and physical health. As a brand, we’ve long championed this holistic message, but it’s something that sometimes gets overlooked by the guys who occupy prime position in front of our masthead.

In partnering with Movember for this edition, we were conscious of seeking out a cover star who embodies that holistic focus. In that sense, Tony Armstrong was a no-brainer – it helps that his mo is a cultural artefact. The former AFL player-turned-sports broadcaster knows that when he’s struggling mentally, exercise is often the first thing to go and makes a conscious effort to ensure he gets a run or a workout in, to both help his body feel good but also to fortify his mental wellbeing. Armstrong too, highlights the strength that can be found in vulnerability, regularly seeking help from a therapist and making an effort to ensure his close circle of mates remain tight.

Elsewhere in this edition, you’ll find inspiring stories from men who’ve got moving for Movember in our ‘Why I mo’ series, as well as hear from Movember ambassadors who detail their reasons for bringing the bristle in our ‘Bare All’ video series. Osher Günsberg delves into the male rite of passage that seldom gets acknowledged, while Movember’s global research director, Dr Zac Seidler, joins us on the Turning Point podcast to discuss the findings of Movember’s Real Face Of Men’s Health Report and digs into the reasons relationship breakdown is so harmful to men.

There’s a lot to chew on, but before we get started, we ask that you consider getting involved this Movember, by growing a mo or moving 60km for the 60 men suicide takes globally every hour. Raise funds. Save lives. Sign up now at Movember.com.
