What’s new on Netflix Australia, April 2026

April Netflix Highlight – Beef, season 2

Following the back and forth, eye for an eye feud between a handyman (Steven Yeun) and a successful businesswoman (Ali Wong), the first season of Beef was a global success. Now, a second season brings in a new cast and new beef. Season two replaces road rage with a workplace feud and a generational divide. A Gen-Z couple (Cailee Spaeny and Charles Melton) are up against their wealthy boss and his wife (Oscar Isaac and Carey Mulligan), following a tiff at a bourgeois country club that will almost certainly lead to a downward spiral.

Also on Netflix, if you’re still mourning the death of Stranger Things, a reprieve will arrive in the form of Stranger Things: Tales from ’85. The new animated series is set between the second and third seasons of the show, with the gang facing new monsters from a parallel dimension. None of the original cast is lending their voice to the series, but Odessa A’Zion will feature as a new character, Nikki Baxter.

One more on Netflix: Apex. The new survival thriller was shot on location in New South Wales and stars Charlize Theron as a grieving woman on a solo adventure in the Australian wilderness. Taron Egerton, playing a local with a passable Aussie accent, has it out for Theron and attempts to hunt her down.

What’s new on Amazon Prime Video Australia, April 2026

April Amazon Prime Video Highlight – The Boys, season 5

The fifth and final chapter of The Boys is set to premiere on April 8th. The series has always drawn a large audience as the violent, sex-infused and crass antithesis of Marvel movies. Season five will look to right the ship after a fourth season that was less of a hit with viewers. Can it stick the landing for the final send-off, or is this Game of Thrones all over again?

If you’re looking for a laugh, Balls Up should be able to provide it. The comedy stars Mark Wahlberg and Paul Walter Hauser as two halves of the marketing/design duo behind the official condom of the World Cup in Brazil. The pair head to Rio de Janeiro, but after a drunken mishap causes the host nation to lose, they find themselves on the run from riotous fans, drug lords and corrupt officials.

What’s new on Apple TV, April 2026

April Apple TV Highlight – Friends & Neighbors, season 2

In season two of Friends & Neighbors, we expect John Hamm’s ‘Coop’ to continue his life of suburban crime against his wealthy neighbours to maintain the facade of his own affluence. He may run into trouble, however, with the arrival of a new billionaire neighbour with a mysterious past, played by James Marsden.

Elsewhere, Outcome, which is directed by Jonah Hill, is also making its way to Apple TV. The film stars Keanu Reeves as Reef Hawk (awesome name), a sobered-up actor who’s being blackmailed with a video that would ruin his image and end his career. Sounds like pretty heavy subject matter, but this is actually a comedy.

Then there’s Margo’s Got Money Troubles. The comedy series stars Elle Fanning, fresh off her Oscar nomination for Sentimental Value, as a down on her luck recent college dropout. Her parents are an ex-Hooters waitress (Michelle Pfeiffer) and an ex-pro wrestler Jinx (Nick Offerman). After an unplanned pregnancy, Margo needs money bad – so she turns to OnlyFans to make ends meet.

What’s new on HBO Max, April 2026

April HBO Max Highlight – Euphoria, season 3

It has been more than four years since the finale of Euphoria season two, but the series is finally returning. The term ‘long-awaited’ gets thrown around a lot when talking about new seasons of popular TV shows, often undeservedly, but Euphoria season three absolutely deserves the title.

Much has changed in the four years since Euphoria season two. For starters, the core group aren’t high schoolers anymore. In step with the cast’s growing fame, the characters have grown up and are, appropriately, five years older than what they were when we last saw them. Although, not much has changed: Rue (Zendaya) is dealing drugs in Mexico but now has a religious slant; Nate (Jacob Elordi) and Cassie (Sydney Sweeney) are engaged, but the latter now has a pseudo-OnlyFans channel and the former is none too pleased about it; Jules (Hunter Schafer) is making art but has resorted to prostitution to fund it; and Lexi (Maude Apatow) and Maddy (Alexa Demie) are struggling to make it in Hollywood. It seems the more things change, the more they stay the same.
