WE’VE EMERGED FROM the depths of winter and the weather is starting to warm up, but that doesn’t make an evening spent curled up on the couch watching your favourite new series any less appealing. And because we live in the golden age of streaming, there’s always plenty to watch. In September, you can expect more of the same.
September will include new episodes of hugely popular series, including Reacher season four on Prime Video, Ted Lasso season four on Apple TV, and Lanterns on HBO Max, which are all continuing their seasons. There’s plenty of new content, too. Starting with new seasons of Chad Powers and Slow Horses, as well as brand new series Last Seen and Brothers. For films, September will see the streaming debuts of The Mandalorian and Grogu, Toy Story 5 and Backrooms.

September Netflix Highlight – Unabomber
Remember Jacob Tremblay? At the age of nine, he became the youngest person to be nominated for the SAG Award for Actor in a Supporting role. That was for his turn in 2015’s Room. Now he’s old enough to play the Unabomber. Time flies. He stars as Ted Kaczynski, alongside Russell Crowe and Shailene Woodley, in this true crime drama about a mathematics prodigy who abandons his academic career to carry out a deadly terror campaign that killed three people and injured 23 from 1978 to 1995.
Also coming to Netflix in September is the second season of The Gentlemen. Guy Ritchie’s TV spin-off follows the dealings of Eddie Horniman (Theo James), a returned soldier who unexpectedly inherits his father’s country estate, including the cannabis empire operating underneath it.
And just when you thought we’d moved on from Raygun, Netflix has brought the underwhelming breakdancer back into the spotlight. Untold Raygun: Breaking Badly will explore Rachel Gunn’s unusual path to the Olympics and journey to becoming a global meme.

September Disney+ Highlight – Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu
The first Star Wars film in seven years saw The Mandalorian jump from streaming to theatres. Now, it’ll jump back to streaming as the film makes its way to Disney Plus. In The Mandalorian and Grogu, the stakes are lower than in previous Skywalker saga films, but there’s still fun to be had as the titular duo hunt down Imperial warlords and rescue a Hutt voiced by Jeremy Allen White.
Elsewhere, Toy Story 5 makes its streaming debut after a theatrical run that earned more than $1 billion. And Chad Powers is back for a second season with Glen Powell returning as the secret identity quarterback.

What’s new on Apple TV, September 2026
September Apple TV Highlight – Slow Horses, Season 6
The sixth season of Slow Horses is set to arrive on Apple TV on September 16th, and the series has already been renewed for a seventh season. If you’re someone who is hesitant to commit to a series unless you know it has legs, that should inspire some confidence. Season six will see former MI5 agents hunted down, as the remaining team is forced to go on the run.
Also coming to Apple TV is Last Seen, a new Australian series starring Patrick Brammall. It follows a former detective whose daughter disappeared more than a decade ago. Now working as a police dispatcher, he receives a call from a girl he believes could be his long lost daughter.
There’s also Mayday, a Cold War action-comedy starring Ryan Reynolds as a US Navy pilot stranded behind enemy lines. His only hope is a sympathetic ex-KGB operative, played by Kenneth Branagh. Finally, Brothers premieres on September 23rd. Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson play fictionalised versions of themselves, with their lifelong friendship upended by the revelation that they might actually be brothers.

What’s new on HBO Max, September 2026
September HBO Max Highlight – Backrooms
New episodes of Lanterns every Monday are still HBO Max’s major draw on the series front, but for films, September’s biggest addition will be the streaming debut of Backrooms. Directed by 21-year-old Kane Parsons, the film is based on the backrooms, a seemingly endless series of liminal spaces that gained popularity through a copypasta and Parsons’ own web series. It’s been one of the highest grossing films of 2026 so far.
