BREAKING: Chinese Swimmer Fails Doping Test in Rio

In what’s becoming a major talking point of Rio 2016, it seems the drama isn’t over yet with reports that Chinese swimmer Chen Xinyi has failed a doping test.

Xinyi, only 18-years-old, was set to face the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) on Thursday night to learn her fat, major Brazillian newspaper Estado reports.

This news is sure to fan the flame of the already volatile mood at the Olympic pool, only days after Mack Horton spoke out about his disgust at drug use in his sport and called rival Sun Yang a “drug cheat”.

Xinyi placed fourth in the women’s 100m butterfly final and was expected to compete in the 50m freestyle heats on Friday morning. It’s being reported that Xinyi swam without knowing the result of the positive test, and took the case to the CAS to possibly avoid suspension.

More to come.
