Pierce Brosnan does these 6 things to stay healthy at 72

At 72, Pierce Brosnan has the vigour of a man half his age – here's how

PIERCE BROSNAN still doesn’t see himself “as an old man”. The vintage James Bond, who is 72, recently revealed he grapples with the idea that he’s perceived as an older individual after being seen as a heartthrob for most of his adult life.

“I don’t see myself as an old man at all,” he told Saga Magazine. “But I suppose I would be considered an old man by some and I am getting older, that’s for sure.”

Perhaps Brosnan doesn’t see himself as old because, even in his eighth decade, the Irish actor still feels (and looks) younger than he is. So, how does he do it? Brosnan is highly active and prioritises regular exercise. He also keeps a relatively clean diet. Below, we break down six things Brosnan does to stay healthy.

1. He goes rowing and sculling all the time

Brosnan speaks often about his interest in rowing. “I took up rowing, I joined the rowing club down here. I’ve been sculling, which I absolutely adore.” He told GQ. “It’s a beautiful pastime, rowing is. Get yourself a rowing machine and do 20 minutes a day, and you’re going to be fit as a fiddle.”

“If you do nothing else, get on a rowing machine,” Brosnan said in a separate interview.

2. Cycling is a regular part of his routine

In the same GQ interview, Brosnan mentioned that he had recently taken up biking due to his home’s proximity to a scenic lakefront. “I’m right here on the water’s edge, so I ride my bike around the lake,” he said.

3. He plays golf when he's not busy

Brosnan frequently shares pictures of himself golfing on Instagram. “Sunday golf with the new #3 wood. Peace be with ye all,” he captioned a recent post.

4. Being active is part of his daily life

Brosnan spends a good chunk of time at his home in Kauai, Hawaii. As he says, an active lifestyle comes naturally in such a beautiful locale. “In Hawaii, I play tennis and swim. I go to the gym,” he said.

5. He limits his sugar and butter intake

As he readily admits, Brosnan has a weakness for sugar and butter. “I love sugar. I love butter,” he told The Wall Street Journal. Brosnan tries to limit his intake and advises limiting your own. “Don’t eat butter. Don’t eat sugar,” he said, putting it simply.

6. He drinks Guinness

When questioned about the secret behind his full head of hair by The New York Post, Brosnan suggested it might have something to do with his Irish heritage. “It’s all in the hair, the old Celtic hair,” the he said, adding that eating potatoes and drinking Guinness could factor into it.
