In case you’ve forgotten, former vampire Robert Pattinson is next in line to play Batman. And he’s already got his prep well underway, teaming up with Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu instructor Rigan Machado, an 8th degree red and black belt, to get in superhero shape ahead of the DC flick.

Taking to Instagram, Machado shared himself and Pattinson on the mats going through some moves, captioning the image, “Batman is coming.”

Perhaps a more tame version of UFC, Brazilian jiu-jitsu is a form for martial arts with a focus on grappling and ground fighting. The aim of the sport is to outwrestle your opponent, forcing them into submission via chokeholds and joint locks. So it sounds like Batman might be about to get his hands dirty.

Pattinson isn’t the only actor to learn the art. MH favourite Henry Cavill is a huge fan while Keanu Reeves has also previously teamed up with Machado as he prepared for John Wick. Machado boasts Joe Rogan and Ashton Kutcher as clients too.

The Batman is scheduled for a release mid 2021 with Pattinson replacing Ben Affleck as the caped hero while Zoë Kravitz is cast as Catwoman.
