Only a real Apple fanatic will remember this: the tech giant used to have a white sneaker, branded with the old-school iconic logo. While they didn’t stick around past the 90s, we could soon see the old-school style return to our shelves with images leaked of a Versace version.
It’s thought the shoe was originally made for employees during the late 1980s and early 1990s.
“We believe they were a pair of prototype sneakers made for Apple in the late 1980s or early ’90s,” says Hertiage Auction’s Director of Modern and Contemporary Art Leon Benrimon, speaking to Esquire.
“We believe there were only two pairs made, and the other pair was from the Apple archives. The pair we have are what we believe is the only known private pair.”
Shoe commentators first noted the similarity of the pairs after the head designer of Sneakers Versace, Salehe Bembury, shared a picture of the new kicks.
His cryptic caption, “A wise man once said nothing at all” had followers baffled by the announcement.
No further details have been announced, but it’s safe to say we’re pretty excited.
