December Netflix Highlight – Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery
The third instalment in the Knives Out series – which we’re hesitant to call a trilogy, considering how quickly it’s gone from a standalone film to a franchise – is out on December 12. This time, Daniel Craig’s Benoit Blanc is brought into the world of a charismatic priest and his devout congregation. When a murder that seems impossible to pull-off occurs, Blanc is tasked with navigating a complex web of secrets and simmering tensions from within the tightly-knit community. Among the ensemble cast is Josh O’Connor, Josh Brolin, Glenn Close, Andrew Scott, Cailee Spaeny, Mila Kunis, Jeremy Renner and Jeffrey Wright.
Part two of Stranger Things season 5 will also arrive on Netflix on December 26. Meanwhile, Jay Kelly premieres on December 5th. It stars George Clooney as a suave movie star facing an identity crisis – a moment of not-so-subtle introspection, perhaps? – who goes on a listless adventure across Europe with his long-time manager, played by Adam Sandler. The pair weigh their life choices while pondering the legacies they’ll leave behind.

December Disney+ Highlight – Percy Jackson and the Olympians, season 2
Plenty of people go through a Greek mythology phase. Admittedly, we’re still in ours. That makes Percy Jackson and the Olympians, an episodic adaptation of Rick Riordan’s novels, a must-watch. In season two, demigod Percy Jackson heads into the Sea of Monsters, the home of his father Poseidon, in search of the Golden Fleece.
Also on Disney+ in December is season five of much loved series Abbott Elementary. The show’s continued success is proof that the workplace sitcom and mockumentary format is still alive and well.

December Apple TV Highlight – F1 The Movie
F1 The Movie was unavoidable when it released earlier this year. But in case you still haven’t seen the highest grossing sports movie of all time, here’s the gist. Brad Pitt plays Sonny Hayes, not so much of has-been as he is a never-was. Hayes was a promising young F1 driver in the ’90s, but his reckless driving style ultimately caught up to him and a crash nearly ended his career. 30 years on, he’s approached by his former teammate, who now owns a team of his own and is in desperate need of an experienced pair of hands behind the wheel. The team, APXGP, is on the verge of collapse and sits last in the constructors’ standings after three years in F1 without so much as a podium. Hayes is their best chance at salvation, but he might also be able to unlock something from his new teammate, the fiery young Joshua Pearce.

Rachel Sennot’s I Love LA has already been renewed for a second season, and there’s still three episodes to be released in December. The show centres around Sennott and her group of friends attempting to make it LA.
