Research published in The Lancet has found that just 15 minutes of exercise a day can increase life expectancy by up to three years as well as reducing risk of heart disease and cancer by 14 per cent.
Meanwhile, fitting in 300 minutes added 3.4 years and 500 minutes added 4.5 years.
Interestingly, the report published in the journal had other grim results. From analysing over 650,000 people, scientists also found that being obese or inactive could have worse than expected consequences: not getting up and about could shave 7.2 years off your life.
So if you’re struggling to get any exercise in, just know that every bit counts. Even if it’s 15 minutes.
