It’s official: 47-year-old Jared Leto is better at thirst traps than most twentysomethings. In a short video shared to Instagram, Leto absolutely nailed the art form, holding up his T-shirt to show off his toned abs and then sticking out his tongue to let you know that he’s just, like, being a total goof.
The post has racked up more than 2.8 million views, as well as approving comments from a couple of Leto’s celebrity followers. “What a thirst trap!” Said DJ duo The Chainsmokers, while comedian DeRay Davis said “I’m going to the gym NOW!! Go to hot boy hell Jared!!” Singer Ryan Tedder, meanwhile, complimented Leto on the Casio watch he appears to be wearing in the video: a throwback fashion moment if ever there was one.
Leto has form for posting sculpted body pics—while doing promo for the 2017 single ‘Walk on Water’ with his band 30 Seconds to Mars, he showed off the muscle he’d packed on after slimming down to play the Joker in 2016’s Suicide Squad.
Leto’s body shape has changed drastically with each role he’s taken; he gained 67 pounds to play Mark David Chapman, the killer of John Lennon, in the 2007 drama Chapter 27, and became practically emaciated in his Oscar-winning performance as Rayon in 2013’s Dallas Buyers Club, losing 30 pounds in the process.
In between roles, Leto credits his vegan diet and alcohol-free lifestyle with helping him keep in shape. He also hikes, bikes, and does yoga, but a six-pack like that doesn’t come along without some serious core training and disciplined diet. Want a six-pack worthy of a Leto-level thirst trap? This medicine ball workout challenge will work your core and burn your abs like a dragon.
