With the rise of Artificial intelligence (AI), possibilities seem endless. In the last year or two, sex robots have become real albeit a taboo topic. But just how many of us would do the deed with a sexbot? More than you think.
According to a new survey featuring 2000 Americans conducted by sex toy retailer EdenFantasys.com, four in ten people would have sex with a robot, while one in four would try it once just to see what it was like.
Meanwhile, 16 per cent of respondents suggested they’d have sex with a robot regularly to fulfil their needs.

But just how much is a sexbot worth to them? The poll revealed that, on average, Americans would fork out US$1666 for their dreamy droid with men willing to spend up to US$500 more than their female counterparts.
Further 41 per cent of Americans wanted their robotic partners to have emotions and be able to talk while a small percentage wanted to have sex with a robot that looked more cyborg than human. Most alarmingly, 16 per cent preferred to have sex with a robot than a human.
“Robots are entering human spaces everywhere and, as the research shows, sex will not be an exception,” says Fred Petrenko of EdenFantasys. “Creating a perfect sexbot will be a huge challenge both scientifically and commercially. But we are still a few years away yet.”
“There’s a huge distance between a sex toy and a sex bot, but the idea of a fully functional sex robot is certainly enticing for many Americans,” adds Petrenko.
“EdenFantasys is excited about a real potentials of the market.”
Other key findings include:
- 39 per cent call sex with a robot, masturbation.
- 30 per cent find that if your partner has sex with a robot, it’s cheating.
- 53 per cent said it was cheating if the robot was attractive and had emotions.
- 55 per cent of Americans expect sexbots to be the norm with 50 years.
