Google has officially announced the latest additions to the Pixel family, the Pixel 4 and 4 XL, at the annual hardware event in New York City.
We give you everything you need to know about these new phones to help you decide which one is right for you.
What’s the difference between the Pixel 4 and 4 XL?
You are looking at two incredibly powerful smartphones that are capable of shooting fantastic photos. Both come packed with the latest features to assist with all areas of life admin.
The devices are nearly identical when you set them side-by-side, the most noticeable difference being their size. So, it comes down to your preferred form factor and whether or not you need a screen with a bit more real-estate. The Pixel 4 has a 5.7” screen, while the Pixel 4 XL is slightly larger at 6.3”, both with a 90hz refresh rate, making it one of the best phone displays currently available.
New features
Some pretty cool features were announced for the Pixel 4, and they primarily focus on taking your photography game to the next level, which is exactly what you would expect from Google. It also helps when you have Annie Leibovitz giving the software defined camera her stamp of approval, making it even harder to ignore how good this smartphone is.
Upgraded Camera
Google has given the Pixel 4 camera another massive upgrade. Now featuring two cameras on the back, including a new telephoto lens. The all new lens has been added to power the new Super Res Zoom software, which gives you the ability to take some amazing long distance shots with minimal noise.
Night Sight 2.0
This game changing feature receives an update. Now harnessing the ability to take shots with longer exposure, giving you the opportunity to be a true astrophotographer and capture incredible shots of the night sky, stars and even the Milky Way. However, if you’re like most of us and live in a city, you may find it a bit difficult to see a star through all of the light pollution. Could be time to finally take that nature trip.
Dual Exposure
If you have ever had an issue taking a photo in tricky light, well this could be the feature you’ve been waiting for. You will now be able to easily adjust the brightness and shadows using a set of sliders – all done in the viewfinder while composing the shot.
Motion Sense
The Pixel 4 has been equipped with a miniature radar sensor that allows the phone to understand whats happening around it. When this technology is used with the new Quick Gestures feature, you will be able to skip songs, dismiss alarms or silence your phone – all with a simple wave of the hand. A pretty handy feature if you’re cooking up a storm or don’t like getting out of bed to hit snooze on your alarm.
Recorder App
Who thought audio recording could be such a game changer in 2019. The new Pixel-only app brings the convenience of search and power of A.I. to change the way you record. You will now be able to see all of your recordings seamlessly transcribed into text and effortlessly categorised, meaning you will be able to simply run a search query to find the moments that matter.
