Finding time during the day to fit in a workout can be a little tricky. So naturally, you want to pick exercises that will fire up more than one muscle.

That’s what compound movements are for, and one of our favourites is the deadlift. If you’re just starting out, you may want to consider heading for the kettlebell first.

With such a heavy reliance on good form, you’re going to need an expert to run you through the motion. Men’s Health Fitness Director, Todd Liubinskas.

“We’re going to make sure that with our set up, our feet are in line with our shoulders. My shoulders are up and back, and our lats are in engaged,” explains Liubinskas.

“As we come down, we tuck our chin in, down to the floor and push up, feet through extending the hips and the knees.

“Grab those kettlebells, engage your lats, tuck your chin, push your feet through the floor, stand up tall, extend the hips and knees. Then bring those kettlebells down.”
