Jack Doohan reveals what’s fuelling his F1 ascendence

Ahead of his full-season debut at the Australian Grand Prix, we spoke with Jack Doohan to find out the secret to his sudden rise: high-performance coffee

JACK DOOHAN’S PLACE in F1 has been a long time coming. After finishing third in the 2023 F2 championship, Doohan spent two seasons waiting in the wings as Alpine’s reserve driver, ready to take his chance when an opportunity presented itself. Finally, that opportunity has arrived.

The time has now come for Doohan – the son of five-time MotoGP world champion Mick Doohan – to show the world what he’s made of, with Alpine promoting the 22-year-old to a full-time role for the 2025 season. While he made his F1 debut at the season-ending 2024 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix and kept his nose clean in a respectable 15th placed finish, that outing was relatively pressure free, at least compared to making your full-season debut at your home grand prix, which is what Doohan will do this weekend.

You better believe Doohan is feeling the pressure. Already, Alpine’s highly touted reserve driver Franco Colapinto is pushing for Doohan’s place on the grid, and Doohan was recently given what can only be called the antithesis of a vote of confidence by Alpine’s executive adviser Flavio Briatore.

“You can’t be emotional in F1,” Briatore told French newspaper Le Parisien in January. “We start the year with Pierre [Gasly] and Jack [Doohan], I guarantee it. After that, we’ll see during the season. I have to help the team reach a situation where it can achieve results… If one of the drivers is not moving forward, is not bringing results, then I replace him.”

Every F1 driver faces pressure – if you were to rank every profession by job security, a racing driver would likely be at the bottom of the list – but with Briatore’s words hardly inspiring confidence and Colapinto eagerly waiting to take his place, Doohan’s seat is hotter than most.

The message to Doohan is clear: he’s not just racing for points on a week-to-week basis, he’s racing for his future in F1. To ensure he performs to the best of his ability, Doohan requires the right energy source. “As a driver, having the right fuel to keep me focused and energised is crucial,” he tells Men’s Health.

To get it, he turns to Beforeyouspeak Coffee and its high-performance formulas. “Beforeyouspeak Coffee helps me stay energised and ready for whatever challenges come my way – it’s part of my routine whether I’m in the gym or on the track.”

What makes a cup of coffee high performance, you ask? In Beforeyouspeak’s case, it’s the infusion of vitamins, minerals and functional ingredients like turmeric, MCT oil and Siberian ginseng. These help improve focus, increase energy and boost endurance, while also benefiting skin health, transforming a regular brew into a cup of functional coffee.

Beforeyouspeak has just been announced as the exclusive coffee provider for Doohan’s team, Alpine. In the role, Beforeyouspeak will be supplying drivers, engineers and crew members with clean, effective energy throughout the season. “It’s a game-changer to have access to coffee that’s designed for performance,” says Doohan. “Success on the track starts with how I fuel every day. Now, with Beforeyouspeak fuelling the entire team, we’re all even more focused and driven to push the limits and take our performance to the next level.”

We’ll see exactly how beneficial Beforeyouspeak Coffee is to Doohan’s performance when he makes his full-season debut at the Australian Grand Prix on March 16th.
