The 62-year-old lasted eight hours, 15 minutes and 15 seconds to pass previous holder Chinese police officer Mao Weirdong by nearly 14 minutes.
Hood’s training also involved 674,000 sit-ups and 270,000 push-ups while he reportedly planked for 10 hours and 10 minutes back in 2018.
After taking his place in the Guinness Book of World Records, Hood’s planking days may be over: he plans to focus on “other fitness endeavours.”

Last year, Canadian Dana Glowacka planked for four hours, 19 minutes and 55 seconds to break the record in the female category.
“I’m so grateful,” the yoga instructor wrote on social media following the feat.
“Truly, if you put the whole of you in what you believe, you gonna make it!”
