Meet The Biggest Enemy In Weight Gain

The enemy has been identified and it’s not chips. Of everything we eat, sugar is the greatest predictor of weight gain in men, according to researchers at Japan’s Niigata University.

The scientists report that consuming five grams of sugar a day would lead to a weight gain of almost a quarter of a kilogram in a year. Since the average Australian consumes 95g of sugar a day, according to a recent Euromonitor survey, the size of the problem is clear.

An easy way to start cutting back on the sweet stuff? Forego sugar in your coffee, says study author Dr Hirohito Sone.

THE HARD WORD

HUNGRY

According to research at the University of Illinois, this is the state you should be in to burn fat without losing muscle on cardio days. Leave the second Weet-Bix in the box and lace up.
