The Surprising Truth About Your Sex Life After 40

Who says the kinky stuff was only for your wild, single days? According to a new survey from condom makers Trojan, you probably won’t reach your full, shall we say, creative potential until you’re a bit older and wiser.

Trojan teamed up with the Sex Information and Education Council of Canada to survey 2400 Canadians between the ages of 40 and 59 about their sex lives.

And it turns out that the sex lives of most middle-aged adults do not go stale as they age. In fact, 65 per cent of respondents said they were very satisfied with their last sexual encounter.

With more experience comes a taste for trying things outside your typical bang: the survey found that 63 per cent of men and women were more open to trying new things than they were a decade earlier.

Plus, their sex lives were still plenty active: 40 per cent of married or cohabitating participants reported getting it on at least once a week.

The key to continued hot and heavy exploration is, not surprisingly, communication. According to the findings, those who rated themselves as “very sexually satisfied” reported talking about their sexual likes and dislikes with their partner frequently.

So whether you’re toying with the idea of role play, cautiously curious about anal or wondering what’s with the hype around S&M, talk it out with your partner and let the sex games begin. It’s only going to get more fun from here.
