What helps sore muscles after a workout?
You went hard, now you’re paying the price. Here’s how to deal with a case of DOMS
From hangovers to tension headaches, chances are you’ve experienced a sore, throbbing head at some stage. But the headache that gives you grief this month, might feel different from the one you experienced last year. That’s because there are different kinds of headaches, with different causes. Here we identify three sneaky headache culprits that could be to blame for your pain:
1\ Diet:
When you eat clean, you feel better and it’s easier to bring your A-game to everything from work to the gym. Yep diet is important for your wellbeing, but did you know what you eat could potentially be triggering your headaches? Consuming food additives like MSG, or weaning yourself off caffeine too quickly are just some examples of diet-related headache causes. If your diet is triggering your headaches, it’s important to seek medical advice.
2\ Eye strain:
You’re under the pump to get that report finished and you haven’t left your desk for hours. Then boom – a headache strikes and everything gets so much harder. Focusing your eyes on one point for too long can lead to eye fatigue and a nasty headache. Make sure you take regular breaks and try the 20-20-20 rule: every 20 minutes, focus your eyes on somewhere in the distance at least 20 feet away for 20 seconds. If that doesn’t work, a pain reliever like Nurofen Zavance may do the trick.
3\ Over-exercising
Exercise is one of the best things we can do for our bodies but over-do it and it could trigger migraines in some people – particularly if you attempt an extreme workout after a long break. Better to ease your way back in and know your limits.
What can you do?
Treating a headache depends on the cause but you might find relief with a pain reliever like Nurofen Zavance. Like headaches, not all Nurofen is the same. With a unique formula, Nurofen Zavance caplets and tablets are absorbed up to 2x faster than standard Nurofen* to help you get on with your day. Of course, if you’re worried, the headache is severe or hangs around, it’s always best to see your doctor.
