If you’re finding things have been a big sluggish in the bedroom of late, then it’s time to up the ante again by revising your exercise program.
Four-time world champion boxer Danny Green who helms Team Danny Green (TDGfit) – a flexible online health and fitness program created specifically for men with access to expert dietitians, nutritionists and sports scientists – says regular exercise improves the circulation of blood around all parts of your body.
“Exercise jump starts not only what’s happening down stairs but also your brain,” says the 43-year-old father of two. “Improved blood flow to these areas makes you more receptive to sex, heightens your arousal levels and makes sex more enjoyable.”
A strong contributor to erectile function is good cardiovascular health which can be improved by increasing cardio work-outs. Exercise assists in lowering blood pressure and keeping arteries healthy which helps everything to work A-OK.
Here Danny outlines five simple exercises which will go a long way to improving your sex life.
1\ Walking
“Walking’s a great cardio exercise you can do every day – as long as it’s at a quick pace,” Danny says. “A slow doddle down to the bus stop like you’ve got all the time in the world won’t help you much in the bedroom! Aim for at least 30 minutes fast walking a day. Better still, go for a jog whenever you can.”
2\ Swimming
“Sex can really test your endurance. So swimming three times a week for 30 minutes each time, may help to keep you going. If you still need some encouragement, one Harvard University study of 160 male and female swimmers in their 60s actually said their sex lives were still comparable to when they were in their 40s.”
3\ Strength Training
“If things are really sluggish, then hitting the gym for strength training, or just lifting some weights at home could be just what the doctor ordered. Strength training also causes the body to produce testosterone. If you’re not keen on weights, no problem. Just do muscle building exercises such as push-ups, sit-ups and crunches.”
4\ Yoga
“A lot of blokes wouldn’t be caught dead at a yoga class, however mastering a couple of yoga positions is great for improving flexibility, can improve your stamina and teach you how to focus your mind and energy.”
5\ Kegels
“Doing kegels is a great way to strengthen your pelvic floor, which can lead to better sex. Whenever you need to urinate squeeze your pelvic muscles to stop the flow to get used to the sensation. Once you get the hang of it do these exercises multiple times a day.”
Danny says not only will these exercises improve your physical health, they’ll also do wonders for you mentally. Exercise boosts endorphins levels, those “feel good” hormones that lift your mood. These hormones are linked to sexual arousal and pleasure.
“It’s no secret that people who exercise regularly generally feel better about themselves,” the champ says. “As a result they’re more confident and believe they’re more attractive which can enhance your sex life and sex appeal. So come on guys it’s time to get busy to get ‘busy’!”
