We’re only 4 days into competition at the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympic Games, and they’ve already proved to be an endless supply of inspiring stories, super-human achievements, and hilarious moments. However none have been as honest and relatable as a tweet posted by US snowboarder Chloe Kim.
“Could be down for some ice cream rn” said 17 year old Kim on Monday afternoon. However her fans were quick to pick up on the unusual timing of the tweet. Twitter user Spencer Hren (@SpencerHren) was quick to reply, asking “Aren’t you competing right now??”, to which Chloe replied “yes…”.
Any assumptions that the casual tweeting from the top of the half pipe signified that Kim was not in the zone were wrong. Immediately following her post she scored a near perfect 95.50 ride. The ride placed her in first in the field, and if anything, her happy-go-lucky attitude is a huge demonstration of her calm and composure under pressure.
Kim’s relatable dedication to snacking has been a huge hit, going viral with food lovers world wide. And after her first place finish, the US Olympic team even offered to shout her.
