On Saturday night at Madison Square Garden in New York City, the Irishman beat former lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez to a pulp and made history as the first fighter to simultaneously hold title belts in two weight classes.

Predictably, McGregor talked some serious smack on Alvarez leading up to the fight, warning reporters during last week’s UFC 205 media call that he’d make mince meat out of his enemy.
And yet again ‘Mystic Mac’ called correctly, making short work of Alvarez, ending the fight via TKO midway through the second round.
“I’m going to toy with this man,” McGregor said of Alvarez. “I’m going to really, truly rearrange his facial structure. His wife and kids will never recognise him again.”
His facial structure wasn’t rearranged, but the way in which he was utterly dominated inside the octagon may hurt more than broken bones ever could. McGregor doesn’t mess around.
