Spring is here! And there’s never a better time than now to clear out the cobwebs and start fresh. It will not only give you more space around your place, but it could also benefit your health and get rid of any nasty allergens that are hanging around.
1/ Wardrobe refresh
They say that a change is as good as a holiday, and you don’t need an excuse to go through whatever you’ve got collecting dust in your wardrobe. It’s time to throw away that jacket that you’ve been holding onto for the last 7 years, but have only worn twice during that time.
And because we’re heading into a new season, there are lots of retail bargains to be made to give you a total wardrobe makeover.
2/ Protect and store
Now that the cooler months are out of the way, it’s time to get any jumpers and coats that you want to hold onto dry cleaned, and then stored to protect from mould and bugs.
You can pick up a couple of stylish storage bins that will fit in the back of your wardrobe, and out of the way during summer. Avoid using mothballs, as they will only give your clothes an awful scent that you’ll be stuck with next winter, and try lavender sachets that keep items smelling fresh and dry.
When it comes to putting away those warm blankets and pillows you’ve been using, purchase a few vacuum bags. These are great at protecting blankets and anything else you want to clear away. The bags are also great space savers.
3/ Purify the air indoors
According to data from the Centre for Australian Weather and Climate Research the air in the average home can be up to five times more polluted than the air outside.
This is where an air purifier comes in handy. The Dyson Pure Hot+Cool Link purifier intelligently purifies the air in your home capturing gases and 99.95% of fine particles such as allergens and pollutants 2
It also has a heating and cooling functionality and automatically monitors, reacts and purifies – then reports to your Dyson Link app.
4/ Clean things PROPERLY
Let’s face it! Cleaning isn’t a blokes favourite pastime. But it’s something that can be done relatively quickly once you know what to do.
You just need to know the essentials you need, and work your way around an area in a single direction so you don’t miss any of those nitty gritty places you may often miss.
What you’ll need:
- Gloves
- Bucket
- Wipes
- Bathroom cleaning spray
- Soap scum remover
- Toilet bowl cleaner
- Glass cleaner
- Broom and dustpan
5/ Love thy pets
Pets can set off allergies in some people, especially when there’s lots of loose hair around the place.
Ensure that all blankets and any bedding covers are cleaned with hot water to remove dust, bacteria and hair. Bathing your pets frequently will cut down on the amount of moulting that comes from the animal.
Get a damp microfiber cloth and wipe the coat daily. Your pet will love the attention, and you’ll love less pet hair left around to clean later on.
