Mainlining greasy food could turn you into a junk food addict.
Researchers at the University of NSW found rats plied with greasy and sugary fare lost their appetite for new foods, a biological urge key to maintaining a balanced diet.
“If the same thing happens in humans,” says study author Dr Margaret Morris, “eating junk food may change our responses to signals associated with food rewards. It’s like you’ve just had ice-cream for lunch, yet you still go and eat more when you hear the ice-cream van come by.”
