A recent study found that crying associated with heavy emotions can help you shed weight, reports AsiaOne.
The research conducted by Dr. Aaron Neufeld from the Los Altos Optomoetric Group showed that hormones resulting from emotional crying raises cortisol levels.
Previously in 1982, biochemist William Frey reported that crying could help remove toxic substances that build up due to stress.
The new findings found there to be three different types of tears: Basal, Reflex and Psychic tears.
Basal tears (basic functional tears) is a natural body function that keeps our eyes moist. Reflex tears (irritation tears) is an involuntary reaction to environmental factors such as smoke and wind. Finally, Psychic tears are those that result from feelings and emotions. The later is the only tear that can contribute to weight loss.
