In a huge development to the potential fight of the century between Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather, Dana White has told UFC Tonight he won’t stand in the UFC superstar’s way.
For months, White has stated he simply wouldn’t allow McGregor to break his contract and pursue a fight between one of the world’s greatest boxers. But this change of heart is going to send shockwaves throughout the fighting community and make a lot of fans very excited.
“It doesn’t make a lot of sense for my business, but I would never keep Conor from making that kind of money,” White said.
“He obviously has a lot of opportunities right now. Tony Ferguson is out there, the Mayweather thing is out there, we’ll see how this thing plays out.”
Both McGregor and Mayweather stand to earn a truckload of cash if their fight goes ahead, a fight that would likely go down as one of the biggest pay-per-views in history.
While an agreement has yet to be reached between the two fighters – and we aren’t going to lie, getting these two to agree on something is not going to be easy – there are rumours the fight will take place in June in Las Vegas.
Let’s hope this fight can be locked down soon – it’s bound to be a thriller.
