If you’ve left your Christmas shopping to the last minute you’re in luck, because we’ve got a gift idea that’s guaranteed to make you a Christmas superstar.
Kit your Blues-supporting mates, your family and yourself out in style for State of Origin 2019 in the slick new Canterbury strip that’s going to make history.
NSW coach Brad Fittler launched the new limited-edition jersey recently, noting it represents a new era for the Blues as they defend their 2018 title. “We pride ourselves on being innovative and this will be the first time in State of Origin history that a team has used an alternate jersey,” Fittler said.
The Blues will debut the alternate jersey for Origin Game II and it’s got every bell and whistle a player could ever want. The sleek, skin-tight jersey was created by footy legends Canterbury, in collaboration with NSW Rugby League to incorporate players’ feedback on performance, comfort and design, with features like the silicone grip surface to enhance ball handling in all weather conditions.
Sturdy but lightweight construction improves players’ endurance and manoeuvrability and Canterbury’s Vapodri+ Adaptive fabric wicks sweat away from the body more efficiently to prevent overheating. The raglan rear sleeve construction reduces resistance through lateral arm motion and external stretch tape at the back of the neck for strength and durability. With respect for tradition, the jersey keeps the classic elements of the traditional blues jersey in the chevron design and the core sky blue colour.
The new strip celebrates the return of Canterbury as a Blues sponsor in 2018 when NSW brought the title back onto home soil. It’s a fitting match, as this combination of respect for history and forward-looking product development is at the heart of Canterbury’s DNA. Their commitment to the Blues is a responsibility they take seriously, redesigning the team kit last year and further evolving it for 2019 with innovations that enhance player performance and comfort.
As for you and your mates, support your team looking sharp in enhanced comfort, knowing you’re wearing the latest tech as you cheer the boys on.
