He’s the TV chef best known for cursing on screen. But in recent times, Gordon Ramsay has turned his attention to looking after himself. Now, showing off a 22-kilogram weight loss, the 52-year-old has revealed the diet changes he made that kick started his slim down.
“I’m very good now at eating five times day, but small amounts as opposed to big breakfast, big lunch and big dinner,” said the Englishman, speaking to the Today Show in 2018.
When Ramsay was only 30-years-old, his old man passed away from a heart attack at just 53. “That man never ever ate in my restaurant, and it pains me today to think that,” Ramsay adds.
After his wife Tana started pointing out that he was letting himself go, Ramsay decided to make a change.
“Gordon’s famous for being blunt,” she told viewers. “I just gave him a little bit of his own medicine and basically suggested that he was getting a little wide around his middle.”
The British chef dropped the pounds, his weight moving from 122kg to 100kg.
Previously, via Reddit, Ramsay told readers that he keeps his meals simple and that he avoids big meals because he knows he’ll be trying his own cooking after that.
“I don’t really sit down and do lunch. I certainly don’t sit down and eat dinner,” he explains.
“There’s nothing worse than eating dinner at 5.30 and then having to get up and cook for three hours.”
Eating smaller meals helps him keep his energy up without creating a calorie surplus.
“I like to keep on my toes and eat small bits. Almost like in Hong Kong – four or five times a day, small bowls of food.”
On the exercise front, Ramsay continues to share photos of himself out and about. He trans and competes in triathlons while keeping up a gym routine. He regularly posts with kids who he encourages to also exercise.
